Well working and all original antique French musical automaton from France circa 1885 by Gustav Vichy in wonderful appearance and generally excellent original condition.
Some of the pretty automatons by Vichy has beautiful modeled platforms and so also this pretty one. It has on very well modeled paper mache platform to suggest part of land with tree stump , green gras and flowers decoration.
Sitting on another larger tree stump in an adult looks lady with wonderful clothing and hold on puff and mirror .
When key-wound and lever released ..... the pretty lady turns her head up and down and from side to side , then lifts her arm to powder her nose , then she turns her head and gazes into the mirror to see her flawless and beauty !! Pretty music plays throughout ............
The doll has fine bisque head with lovely brown glass enamel inset eyes , painted lashes and brows. On closed mouth , pierced ears with original earrings and brunette mohair wig over cork pate.
Head mark at back .... F. 1 G. ( block letter ) by Gaultier ........ in generally excellent condition and free of damage , hairline , repair or other problem.
Perfect breast plate and carton body with very shapely modeling of adult female with defined bosom and waist. Special gracefully positioned legs , wire upper arms with elegant bisque for-arms and wonderful modeled fingers. Note one finder tip missing ........please see my pictures !
She wears very beautiful red silk and velvet dress with checkered silk parts , lace decoration , original silk shoes and socks.... necklace and matching high brim bonnet.
Rare to find and in wonderful condition ...... 15,5" ( 40 cm ) total high with bonnet.
