On Polichinelle was the most popularity character at the end of 19th. century.
It was most often too find in France advertising Etrennes catalogs and publicity posters .... as typical symbols for the world of playing.
Special 1886 he was offered in five different sizes in the catalog of " Grands Magasins de Louvre " The Polichinell was offered in different materials ... like Paper-Mache and on luxury model like this beautiful one from Gaultier with pretty bisque head.
He is in all original condition , with best quality of bisque and painting and original silk sateen outfit in cream and light blue.
Beautiful typical face expression of on nice Gaultier doll , he has beautiful inset blue glass eyes with long painted lashes and dark eyeliner .
Lushly painted brows and closed mouth with hint of smile on his shaded and outlined lips.
Original blonde mohair curled wig over cork pate. All perfect condition .... free of damage , chip , hairline or repair.
He has on block torso with characteristic torso and back humps. Wooden limps with movable upper arms , straw filled sewn on silk costume.
Porcelain hands with modeled fingers and modeled paper-mache shoes. Her wears his original cream and pale blue silk Polichinelle suit and matching jester cap , each trimmed with gold braid and frings.
All complete in generally excellent condition.... has small melting parts at the original costume...not disturbing and typical at the age of this guy !
Wonderful model of the very popularly 21" ( 54 cm ) Bisque Polichnelle ... made in France around 1886 by Gaultier .
