Rare large all factory original bisque Clown by Gaultier ......France around 1880 ...... stunning and special rare to find with beautiful face expression , modeled bisque hands and wearing all original silk costume !!
25" ( 64 cm ) large Clown doll measured with his hat , has blue glass paperweight inset eyes with fine painted lashes and brushstroked brows . Closed mouth and original blonde curled mohair wig .
Block torso of paper mache , movable wire upper arms with large wonderful modeled bisque hands , cotton filled upper legs with fine paper mache legs with modeled shoes , sewn - on gauze inside costume , original socks and fine pale pink silk shoes.
He is mark FG ( cartouche ) and the pretty bisque head and also the fine modeled bisque hands are in perfect condition..... free of damage , hairline , repair or other problem !!
The clown wears his factory original cream silk costume with nice large hand made pale pink silk button decoration and matching felt hat . Note small melting at the silk but not disturbing !! Silk rosette collar and original cream cotton strings and gild bells.
A rare and stunning guy ..... look´s so pretty and a special piece for on special collection !!!
