Rare Early Neopolitan Character Faces Child

From early 1800s. comes this wonderful and rare Neopolitan character faces child ..... possible little Jesus from on Nativity Scene, with highly expressive features of face and body.

Large modeled baby of 20" ( 51 cm )

Of wooden and earthenware wonderful sculpted socket head with slightly open mouth and small inset blue enamel eyes , well defined features and original tiny curled horse hair hand made wig with nice glass stone and gild hair decoration.

Has wonderful modeled body , legs and arms with special and expressively posed fingers.

Very rare and unusual shape of the joints at neck ..... shoulders and arms as well on hips and knees.

It has his original finish with small color refresh at the legs and one arm.

Wearing with original linen dress with hand embroidery and silk bonnet.
